Back in the early days of competitive play for Mortal Kombat's 3D Fighters such as Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, OFIDYAN started making a name for himself locally. Tournaments for these games were much less organized and only held by small promoters and lan centers or cafe's.
The world of Esports has evolved much slower in fighting games, but the roots go back further than some of the most popular esports played today. Mortal Kombat (2011) also known as "Mortal Kombat 9" marks the first time that a Mortal Kombat title joined the prestigious Evolution Line-up.
Many believe this to be when Mortal Kombat stepped into the esports limelight and solidified itself as a reputable tournament game. OFIDYAN is known to have a technical style with developed setups & rare elements within the game. This includes Reptile’s “Invisi-Ball” pressure in Mortal Kombat (2011) and "Turbine Setups" as well as OFI-FLIP’s seen in Injustice: Gods Among Us. EventHubs also labels him as one of the top MKXL players worldwide.
Netherrealm Studios has produced five games that are widely considered tournament viable including: Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat X, and Mortal Kombat 11. All of these titles have seen many major tournament stages. Some of OFIDYAN's notable tournament placings in these games and in other fighting game titles are seen below.
